[Robin is not in it for the prize. when the local Prismals had called him over and asked for his help planting trees, saying something about getting something for his efforts, he had agreed fairly easily and actually waved off the payment. it's been a time sink for most of the festival, since. he's practically covered in dirt at this point and the sun has been beating down on everyone who has been working.
leaving Robin with a bit of a burn on his nose and cheeks. there will definitely be the coveted beginnings of farmer tan, as well.
as he's not the only one that's been a part of this grand endeavor, he walks over to the nearest person still digging holes or planting trees while most have taken a break to get lunch or call it a day.]
Good work! We got a lot done. Aren't you gonna join everyone else and check out the rest of the festival?

[flower crown (or two) on his head, despite trying to say he doesn't want one, Robin is neck deep in festivities. the octopus theme festival last month was lively too but there's a different sort of anticipation and excitement in the air. not only that but he hasn't gotten roped into games or eating things he doesn't want to so that's nice. there's been a selfie here and there but those aren't bad and couple girls were cute.
he makes his way through tight crowds of people when he notices a particularly large gathering around one spot. he hovers in the back, trying to look over the heads to see what's going on and decides just to tap the nearest person on the shoulder.
a glance behind you features a guy covered in flower petals and dirt on his clothes. he asks, loud enough to be heard,]
Hey, uh, any idea what's going on? I'd cut the line to see for myself but I think I'd be mobbed if I tried.

[fuck. not again.
Robin is back in his forced Tamamo cosplay. sure he had kept the bracelet but he had stuffed it in his pocket instead of putting it on, suspicious of what the Prismals meant by for your own protection. he scrambles for it now with shaking hands and shoves it on before his returned giant fox tail can grow any bigger. or he loses his mind.
goddammit. he knew SOMETHING was going to happen when the Queen started making prayers to the moons.
everything he felt at the beginning of the month, during his first Moon, comes back tenfold. and then some. while grasping at his wrist and the bracelet, he drops to his knees in the center of a crowd.
hunger. he's hungry. starving. ravenous.
so if anybody has food nearby him? SOMETHING QUICK AND INVISIBLE IS TAKING IT RIGHT OUT OF YOUR HANDS.]

[after bad BAD luck with the vine monster... thing, you'd think someone would learn their lesson and stay away from danger. the moon may change him in many ways but it doesn't, for a moment, affect Robin's moral compass. once he hears of the trouble going on, he heads in that direction as discreetly as possible.
the size and brute strength of the Cerberus monsters are intimidating for sure, but it doesn't stop him.
before a Cerberus can bite at a Prismal or Moonblessed trying to get away, an arrow flies and strikes its eye. stopping it, instead. it howls in pain, trying to get the arrow out.]
Whoops, meant to get your nose! That's more sensitive! Well, you have two eyes. You can lose one for all the people you've killed already, right? The poison may be more dangerous, anyway. I borrowed it off those vine-like plants from before, so you should be on your knees soon enough. Down, boy.
[the hood Robin is wearing does hide his ears but.
there's no hiding that fluffy as fuck tail.]

Sure I do but it's not gonna go anywhere anytime soon, either.
[he wipes beneath his nose with the back of his hand.]
And if it's just you working here, then it'll probably be gone by the time you finish.
no subject
A pause, and she doesn't say another word until she's picked up the next sapling in preparation of placement. Teamwork!! ]
Then I suppose I'll have to double my efforts to get the both of us out in a decent amount of time.
no subject
yet he's here, digging holes and helping this girl for some reason.]
There. That's some good spirit!
[it's been an all day thing and he's pretty tired, but if he left this girl on her own while he went to check out the celebrations he'd wonder if she ever actually finished.
so he's doing this so he can completely enjoy the festival. without thinking about some random girl. yeah.]
I'll dig and you plant. Sound good?
no subject
[ It's said with a laugh in her voice, but firm agreement. It was admittedly getting kind of grueling, digging at this for as long as she had been, but it had been an excellent distraction. No wondering how to deal with enemy Servants from back home being here, one with no recollection of even betraying them in the first place, and no familiar friendly faces when she could have done with Chiron's calm guidance...
Just the smell of sun-warmed dirt, and the rustle of leaves in the breeze, and muddy fingernails. It was a type of relaxing she'd never really considered, but had found comfort in.
But the saplings are close and she's armed and ready to drop them when he gives the indication. ]
Oh... I'm sorry for the belated introduction, but my name is Fiore Forvedge Yggdmillennia. I'm... aware, that you're a Servant, but I'd heard there was no Grail here, so I don't intend to be considered a threat.
[ Says the girl with dirt on her cheek and absolutely useless legs. ]
no subject
the two of them likely fall into a pattern that doesn't need to be directed or talked about. Robin already has the next hole ready by the time she finishes burying one tiny tree. it's like an assembly line of two people working diligently. doubled efforts.
he pauses in his digging. she knows he's a Servant? a Master?
but doesn't want to be considered a threat. turning to look at her, he gives her a casual once-over. he's a bit more on guard but yeah the dirt on her cheek is killing it a bit. that and how he senses no animosity from her whatsoever. much like she shouldn't sense any from him.]
You're a Master, huh?
[it appears as if it doesn't bother him all that much.]
I don't really want to fight, either. First of all, I'm Masterless. Second, I'm bushed.
no subject
When the Servant turns to gaze at her, Fiore stares inquisitively back. There really isn't any kind of hostility emanating from him, but it's difficult to tell what his class is just from looking. Or who he is, of course, but that much is never easy unless said Servant was Astolfo and just blurted it out happily. ]
We'd be at an impasse, it seems. I'm also Servantless here. I suppose we'll have to maintain our truce.
[ It's said very diplomatically, but there's some kind of warmer light in her eyes; her way of teasing, maybe. ]
no subject
and every Master that's showed up here, Ritsuka and Hakuno, have ended up Servantless upon arriving. that in mind, he rubs the back of his head and half-laughs.]
Damn. I guess so.
[that's a name she has, though. Fiore Forvedge Yggdmillennia. he won't give her his True Name but, as he finishes the last hole at the end of the row he finally returns the gesture.]
I'm Robin. It's my first time meeting a Master that hasn't summoned me. Well, under amiable circumstance so I can say it's a pleasure, miss.
no subject
Fiore has a lot of questions, but she's also just met the poor guy, so she'll politely refrain from anything more than a musing nod. The last sapling goes into the hole, and as she gently nudges dirt around it to keep it in place, she releases a satisfied sigh. ]
I can only hope that I don't disappoint, then-- and you can call me Fiore. The pleasure is mine, Robin.
[ It's warmly polite, as she has been, but again, dirt on the face probably detracts a bit from the formality. ]
no subject
it's hard to disappoint someone that has no expectations. but, so far? it's been pretty pleasant. a lot of that has to do with Robin being in a decent mood from gardening. as tired as he is, he's more content than usual.]
Good, good. Your full name is a bit of a mouthful.
[he's not one for formalities, anyway. as she will come to learn p r e t t y quickly.]
And I dunno about disappointing me but this may come as a disappointment to you. You've had dirt on your face this whole time.
no subject
[ She's not too dismayed by a lack of formality, thanks to people like Astolfo and Mordred and Kairi (and her own brother), so there's really no problem with that.
But there's still more than a trace of embarrassment when Fiore lifts a hand - catches herself and angles that to use a sleeve - and tries to delicately wipe at her face. ]
It's... I may have been a little enthusiastic earlier, and--
[ Why is she even making excuses, she's just going to woman up and own it!! ]
It brings out my eyes.
no subject
he won't make fun of her or laugh either way. though it's pretty funny to listen to the excuse she makes up on the spot.]
Sure. I think the brown in your hair would have already done that, though. You don't have to feel embarrassed about it, you know? Take it as a mark of your hard work. You were too busy planting trees and focusing on that to worry about being dirty. That's something to be proud of.
no subject
... Thank you. [ Does this make her feel less embarrassed, though? No. ] I have to admit, this isn't something I've ever done before, but... it's really helped to clear my mind.
no subject
now, her blush? that makes her eyes stand out.]
You haven't, huh? [that's some enthusiasm for something she's never done before. reminds him of someone.]
Hmmm, I guess gardening is more of a hobby now than something that's necessary these days.
no subject
[ A productive hobby... a lot like magecraft, except that no proud, legitimate magus would ever call their magecraft a hobby. Including Fiore, of course. The amount of time she'd spent on spirit evocation alone, or binding her mana to jewels--
Oh. Right. Speaking of... ]
Robin, may I ask you a slightly more personal question? If you don't wish to answer it, I won't press, but there's something I've been trying to understand.
no subject
[hey is Fiore just a softer, more dere Rin... ?
as soon as she brings a word like "personal question" into the mix, he's on edge. that's a shame. the casual, simple conversation with a pretty cute girl had been nice while it lasted.
he doesn't want to be asked personal questions, no, but that fact that she's definitely been polite and granting him the mercy of not having to answer it helps. not that he needs it??? if he didn't want to answer, he wouldn't answer.]
... Depends on how slightly you mean. [a beat.] Alright, shoot.
no subject
It's the pause that has her looking apologetic; forgetting Servants and Masters, she's sure anyone would automatically be on-guard when facing a probing question from someone they'd just met. ]
You mentioned you were Masterless, and I've encountered Servants in similar situations who have been able to maintain their existence here-- though I haven't had any cause to see their strength.
[ And she half-hopes she'll never have to, except Future Fiore has to engage in delightful fighting shenanigans alongside two of the Servants she least wanted to deal with.
But that's a problem for Future Fiore! ]
I've been wondering if it was the environment, or if there was any loss or weakness that you'd noticed. Or if the... Chroma generation they'd mentioned might be some manner of replacement for mana.
[ In the scheme of things, it's likely not that important to figure out. But the majority of the Servants she'd met had been kind for no reason to her, and a part of her is concerned on how they'll continue to fare. ]
no subject
the question is personal but in the way it probes at his abilities as a Servant. he won't answer whether or not he's felt any loss or weakness. that would be stupid.
but the second part? that he doesn't mind replying to.]
A replacement... well, kinda. More or less. It's all a bit too complicated to think about if you ask me. You're aware of how Servants are normally summoned, right? As a Master, that's basic knowledge. There's some kind of power at work here that's strong enough to materialize Servants and keep them anchored without a Master supplying the necessary mana.
[in his case, anyway. can't speak for those other Servants she's having delightful fighty shenanigans with. in the future, of course.]
Whatever that power is, I really hope we don't have to fight it one day.
I meant to say this earlier, but your Robin is great
It doesn't necessarily mean that any Servant still can't kill her in the blink of an eye, especially when she's without her own and they no longer have to be concerned about maintaining their existence without having a Master, but from what she's seen, they've chosen to focus on simply thriving here. Robin had helped her, rather than anything else, and she won't forget that. ]
I thought it might be something like that... a power like the Grail, but operating differently. And I agree; having to fight a power that additionally provides your anchor here would be a problem.
[ Minor understatement. ]
Thank you, though. If there's anything I can do in return for your help, please let me know. [ He's kind of humored her a lot. ]
oh man, thank you!!! your fiore is cute too :>
NO MINOR UNDERSTATEMENTS.
except he's fought a couple of people who were the anchors to his materialization. verbal fighting but fighting all the same.]
Hah? [pay him back? for answering the question? digging holes?] It's nothing, really. Don't worry about it.
[now he DOES flap a hand.]
You need a hand getting back in that? [he nods towards the wheelchair behind her.] Since we're done here, it's about time to check out the festival. Don't you think?
sdjksdf thank you!!
Ah... oh, right. [ She glances over her shoulder at the wheelchair, and given the bit of distance she's gained from it in her efforts and how much she really doesn't feel like literally hauling herself back to it... well. ]
It seems I'll have to trouble you for a little while longer. But I think we've done good work!
[ Sorry, Robin. You'll probably be free soon. ]
kind of motivated me to finish apoc tbh lmao
but he grins at her easily. he doesn't mind the trouble, in this case.]
Yeah. We sure did. That's why I say a reward at the celebration is in order!
[once he gets the okay, he presses a hand against his thigh and stands up before moving over toward her. after a small pause, to figure out how to go about this, he first decides to wheel the chair over closer to her.
then, he quite literally gives her a hand. it's held out towards her as he keeps the other braced on the back of the chair to make sure it doesn't move.]
Grab on and I'll haul you up. I'm no heavy-lifter but I can get you onto this thing.
oh god that's flattering but it's a dumpster fire love yourself
I hope you're not implying that I'm heavy.
[ Even though she's well-aware that she's pretty much dead weight like this, so yes. ]
i can't i'm already in fate hell
[one that's been nothing but polite and nice to him. he only meant he's no musclehead.
there's a return look that's as wry and amused before he lifts her up without too much of a struggle. there's a small grunt but other than that, he sets her gently in her seat before releasing her hand.
he has a bit of respect for this girl. not only for sticking around to see the job finished but also even though she can't use her legs, she's still out here not letting anything hold her back.
that being said,]
Was, uh... your Grail War responsible for this or-- sorry, that's definitely personal. Forget I asked.
/looks at fgo SAME....
A seat that Fiore will lean back against while she regards him thoughtfully. He's not wrong; it's an intensely personal question. But at the same time, it's not often that anyone's candid enough to ask, and the knowledge isn't anything that will leave her at any kind of disadvantage. ]
... I was born with a malfunctioning Magic Circuit in my legs. They've been rendered useless because of it, although I can occasionally register sensation there.
[ That sensation is agonizing pain, but you know. She doesn't need to go into details. ]
GRIPS UR SHOULDER......
not enough to earn information of that caliber. he's well on his way to finally taking his leave, off to enjoy whatever food or games or shows that are going on and he might be missing. it's not like him to ask about something like that, not at all. where the hell did the question come from?
he knows candid people. he knows a VERY candid person and he seriously doubts he's picking up on those habits from hanging around them.
she answers when he does not expect her to at all. in fact, he would completely be okay with her saying "none of your business" and leave it there.
malfunctioning Magic Circuits in the legs. she doesn't need to tell him what sensation she means, her tone already does. there's no hope but a careful blankness.]
That's unfortunate. Sorry to hear that, young lady. [a pause.] Looks like it didn't stop you from becoming a Master or from spending most of the day partaking in some old fashioned gardening. That's good.
I SEE YOU UNDERSTAND
