Turnabout Parenting [May Event Catchall]

A. An Eggciting Parenthood

[Gumshoe's ended up taking care of an egg with his roommate and pal, Kay Faraday. When it's his turn to watch over the egg, he can be see walking around the upper levels of Lunatia with the egg held against his chest by a baby carrier. He doesn't even need the help of the egg's scent to dote on it. He happily pats and pets the egg constantly, in order to help nurture it!]

It must be good for the little pal to get some fresh air!

[And he'll happily greet anyone he comes across!

Of course, that energy can't be sustained forever, especially with the amount of Chroma that the eggs drain. At other points, Gumshoe will be found suffering from excessive egg contact - doubled over by a park bench and looking a lot bluer than usual while trying to gain a second wind.]

B. Bye Bye Dragon-fly

[It feels like the dragons have just hatched, and already it's time to say goodbye. Gumshoe's dragon has ended up being dubbed Li'l Maggey, and part of her body has a pattern of green scales that vaguely resemble Detective Gumshoe's trenchcoat. While goofy and earnest, the dragon also has a bit of a mischievous streak thanks to the influence of Kay.

Once they're out in the mountains, Gumshoe prepares to bring Li'l Maggey to the top of the mountain. He can be seen taking out some mini-weenies to feed her in order to coax her into flying him up the mountain!

But there's still the matters of the wild animals. Gumshoe's not the best fighter, especially when it comes to supernaturally powerful enemies. So Gumshoe can Li'l Maggey can be found running or flying for their lives from any of the enemies: the chrysadillos, lightning cats, umbris hawks or terra sharks! They could really use a hand...]

C. Spring Forth

[ooc: Characters in their 20s up for this prompt, please! Even without any smutting, Gumshoe wouldn't stay in the spring with anyone who's too young!]

[After all of that adventure, a dip in the hot springs sounds like the best way to relax! He can't remember the last time he's been to one. Or if he's ever even been to one, at all. Of course, he's embarrassed about stripping down for it - and also very much so about seeing others - but he eventually dips himself into the water and relaxes.]

Ahhh... Now that hits the spot!

[He might be alone, for now. Or is he?]

[That's one way to get someone to cry uncle!

As Prompto refers to him as Grandpa Gumshoe, the scruffy man in question looks shocked! ...And he begins to tear up as well.]

G-Grandpa Gumshoe?! I... I... I always wanted to be a grandpa!! Aw, put it here, pal!! [He then rushes forward to hug Prompto! ...While being mindful of the eggs, of course!]

[ Oh, man...he wholly meant what he said, but he wasn't expecting quite this reaction!!! Not that he minds, of course. He's always ready for a good, warm hug, not to mention that it helps both of their eggs stay healthy Everybody wins here. ]

And I always wanted to be an uncle! I feel like the luckiest guy alive right now...

[ He gets to be a papa, an uncle, and a son(???). All of a sudden, his family is so much bigger! ]

[Win-win-win!! Gumshoe chuckles while practically bear hugging Prompto.]

Nuh-uh! You're the second-luckiest guy! Because right now, no one can feel luckier than me, pal! Welcome to the family!!

[ And to think, mere moments ago Gumshoe was worried Prompto was going to try and kill him... ]

Gotta say, this is the fastest I've ever joined a family!

[ his actual adoption didn't happen this fast that's for sure womp ]

[It's been quite the roller coaster!]

Really?! I set a new record?! [He pulls back from the hug, but gives a hearty slap to Prompto's shoulder.]

Glad to hear it, pal! Once it hatches, you can tell your little pal to just call me Gumpa!

[ GUMPA...

The name is terrible, but of course, Prompto loves it, a big, dorky smile breaking out right across his face while he chuckles. ]

Gumpa it is! And your dragon baby can call me...Promptcle?

[ Well, if that doesn't just roll off the tongue. ]

[He blinks as he hears that.]

You sure about that, pal? I don't want my baby to mix you up with a popsicle or anything! [As if his name was flawless.]

— Yeah, okay, it could use a bit of work. Buuuut you know, Gumpa is a little confusing, too...almost sounds like "Gunpa".

[ Which would work for a grandfather of Prompto's child also, though maybe it's a bit too soon to bring up guns again around Gumshoe.

At least Prompto isn't making any threats with one this time...! ]

Gunpa?! No way, pal! They sound completely different! I... I'm no grandpa of guns, pal!! [He insists hopefully!]

Unless it's like... my arms are a gun show or something! Now that'd be pretty cool!

Hah, if you're my kid's grandpa, then you better have some guns to show off!!

[ So he play-punches Gumshoe in the shoulder. ]

But I wouldn't know, since you're always wearin' that trenchcoat!

Ha!

[He chuckles and then gives a smug smirk while proudly gripping the edges of his coat.]

What can I say, pal? Sometimes, a detective's gotta hide his secret weapons!

[ Fair enough! Though now Prompto isn't sure if they're talking about literal or figurative guns... ]

...Y'know, if you ever want to, I dunno, go shooting for fun, then I'm your guy.

[ Gumshoe did say he knows how. They can just go shoot recreationally sometime! No duels this time. ]

[It'll become clear soon enough. Because at Prompto's suggestion, he scratches at his head sheepishly.]

Really? Well that's good to know, pal! I'm... not the biggest of fan of real-real guns, but... a little target practice every now and then can be pretty fun!

That's what I'm talkin' about! Besides, you never know when you might be out in the wilderness and need to fight some monsters. Never hurts to be at the top of your game, y'know?

[ These are the concerns of a JRPG character. ]

[He hesitantly nods.]

Yeah... you got yourself a point, pal! Big time!! As an officer of the law, I should be ready to do anything I can to protect others and myself at all times! If that means keeping up with the gun game, then... well, then that's what the means, pal!

Exactly! You never know when more killer vines might crop up around the city...even if, uh, bullets weren't the most effective against those.

[ What would have been effective is fire magic, but he hadn't tapped into his Sanguis-given abilities back then. Hell, he barely learned about them now. ]

You're right, pal!! If that day comes, I gotta be ready to deliver da vines' intervention!!

[He presses a fist into his palm to pump himself up!]

No one else is getting hurt on my watch, pal!

[ That pun is truly painful, but as such it makes Prompto burst out into a peal of laughter, hugging his sides to keep from jostling the egg baby too much. ]

I believe it! Heh, you're pretty committed to your job, huh?

[ Maybe Gumshoe will take him on a case someday...that would be neat. ]

Of course I am, pal! It might not be my job here, but it's my duty! I wouldn't have joined the police if I wanted to give anything less than my all to helping out other people in need!! Y'know what I mean?

I totally know what you mean! That's kinda — I mean, it isn't why I joined the Crownsguard, but it sorta became our purpose eventually! I'm all about that helping people life.

[ That's what happens when you're a character in a JRPG. ]

Hold it, pal! [He responds, clinging to one thing that Prompto says.]

You're part of something called the Crownsguard? What the heck's that?? [Some kind of royal guard?!]

[ It is, in fact, some kind of royal guard! ]

Mm-hmm! Pretty legit, right? I'm one of the king's retainers.

[ It's kind of a big deal. ]

Whoa! What an honor, pal!! I didn't realize you were such a big deal... Here I thought you were just an aspiring photographer!

[Prompto's a much bigger deal than he appears!!]

[ He waves a hand, like it's not a big deal at all...even if he totally just implied that it is. ]

Nah, if you met my buddy the king, you'd just think he was a normal guy. I just got lucky enough to become his best friend.

And you're best pals, too?! That's great!! ...But also hard to imagine. [He scratches at his head.] I just can't picture a king being just like an ordinary joe! [And with Sasuke hair.]
