Turnabout Parenting [May Event Catchall]

A. An Eggciting Parenthood

[Gumshoe's ended up taking care of an egg with his roommate and pal, Kay Faraday. When it's his turn to watch over the egg, he can be see walking around the upper levels of Lunatia with the egg held against his chest by a baby carrier. He doesn't even need the help of the egg's scent to dote on it. He happily pats and pets the egg constantly, in order to help nurture it!]

It must be good for the little pal to get some fresh air!

[And he'll happily greet anyone he comes across!

Of course, that energy can't be sustained forever, especially with the amount of Chroma that the eggs drain. At other points, Gumshoe will be found suffering from excessive egg contact - doubled over by a park bench and looking a lot bluer than usual while trying to gain a second wind.]

B. Bye Bye Dragon-fly

[It feels like the dragons have just hatched, and already it's time to say goodbye. Gumshoe's dragon has ended up being dubbed Li'l Maggey, and part of her body has a pattern of green scales that vaguely resemble Detective Gumshoe's trenchcoat. While goofy and earnest, the dragon also has a bit of a mischievous streak thanks to the influence of Kay.

Once they're out in the mountains, Gumshoe prepares to bring Li'l Maggey to the top of the mountain. He can be seen taking out some mini-weenies to feed her in order to coax her into flying him up the mountain!

But there's still the matters of the wild animals. Gumshoe's not the best fighter, especially when it comes to supernaturally powerful enemies. So Gumshoe can Li'l Maggey can be found running or flying for their lives from any of the enemies: the chrysadillos, lightning cats, umbris hawks or terra sharks! They could really use a hand...]

C. Spring Forth

[ooc: Characters in their 20s up for this prompt, please! Even without any smutting, Gumshoe wouldn't stay in the spring with anyone who's too young!]

[After all of that adventure, a dip in the hot springs sounds like the best way to relax! He can't remember the last time he's been to one. Or if he's ever even been to one, at all. Of course, he's embarrassed about stripping down for it - and also very much so about seeing others - but he eventually dips himself into the water and relaxes.]

Ahhh... Now that hits the spot!

[He might be alone, for now. Or is he?]

Yes, that is correct! Magneton is quite docile outside of battle, so you have nothing to fear from it.

[That said, Magneton keeps its distance when it sees that Li'l Maggey is a little overwhelmed. It turns its attention to Gumshoe instead, watching him watch it.

Colress responds with a smile of his own, taking a modest approach.]

I am merely making use of my experience as a Pokemon Trainer. While my opponents are usually other Trainers and their Pokemon, I am able to treat these encounters as ones with wild Pokemon.

Well that's a relief! Now that it's not shooting electricity, it does look pretty cute! [Gumshoe seals that remark with a good-natured smile.]

A Pokemon trainer, huh? So that means some kinda... animal robot creature? [He guesses.]

Magneton is but one species of Pokemon. Do you recall the rabbit creature I showed you when we first met? That was a Bunnelby- another species. I am the trainer of close to a dozen species, but there are hundreds more.

[That said...]

You may pet it, if you wish. It is not opposed to petting.

[trenchdoting]

I do remember that, pal! [He recalls with a bright smile. So that rabbit was one of them all along.] Sounds like some kinda animal kingdom!

[He pauses as he looks towards the Magneton. He has just a moment of hesitation about petting something mechanical.]

Really? Okay, here it goes! [With that, he just... reaches out and tries gently petting one of the Pokemon's chrome domes.]

[Colress nods, pleased that Gumeshoe did in fact remember.]

It is, yes. And it is much different from the fauna from other worlds that I have heard about. Truthfully, the creatures on Prismatica are the closest to Pokemon I've seen thus far.

[They don't seem to have elemental affinities quite like Pokemon, but the floating sharks and whatnot definitely come closer to Pokemon than like, regular dogs and the like.

As for Magneton, its three eyes follow Gumeshoe's hand until he eventually pets one of its heads. It makes a gentle sort of static-y buzzing noise and nuzzles back against the hand. It's a fan!]

See? No need to worry. Magneton is actually one of the quietest on my team. It is sometimes shy, but giving it a pet tends to bring it out of its shell.

You don't say! [He says, raising an intrigued eyebrow.] You sound like you must come from some heck of an interesting world, pal!

[And Gumshoe keeps petting at the Mangneton. It feels a bit nicer than he expected! He doesn't want to give one head special attention though, so he soon switches gears to pet another one.]

Sounds like a cute kinda pal! Magneton, you're alright pal!

[Colress chuckles.]

So I've been told! Of course, I happen to agree. Pokemon are fascinating creatures- that is why I choose to study them!

[Petting another of Magneton's heads is like giving a dog a scratch under the chin. Needless to say, Magneton is into this. It buzzes back as if responding to Gumshoe that he's okay in its book too.]

Seems like you've made a fast friend out of Magneton, Mr. Gumshoe!

[trenchdoting]

It doesn't sound like a bad line of work! You must be a real pro at this, pal!

[It's clear that the Magneton is enjoying this, and Gumshoe's smile grows warmer in response as he continues his petting.]

Oh yeah??? Well I'm glad to hear it, pal! I can't imagine anyone not getting along with this guy - it must have a magnetic personality!

It is the best line of work I could possibly ask for. [He sounds very proud of that fact.] I have been working in it for many years and hope to keep it up for many more to come, once I am able to return home.

[For the record, Colress can't help but take a mental note of how pure this interaction is?! The pun gets another laugh out of him, too.]

You would be surprised! It takes a certain disposition to truly bond with Pokemon, you know. I believe you would make a fine Trainer from the way you've been handling Magneton here!

[trenchdoting]

[Gumshoe smiles warmly. He's happy to hear that Colress is satisfied with something that he's very passionate about! All this Pokemon stuff does sound pretty fascinating to him.]

Really? You think so?! [He says, with awe and wonder, at his prospects of bonding with Pokemon.] I'm sure I'd love having some kinda little critter like that! I've already got experience taking care of Missile too, on top of my little dragon pal here!

Oh? And who is Missile?

[Does Gumshoe have another pet?! Colress wants the deets!!]

[Gumshoe chuckles, as he whips out his wallet and shows a few pictures of Missile.]

Oh, he's a rambunctious little doggie! Technically he belongs to the precinct, but I do take care of him a lot, and he ended up here with me, so now we're really palling it up! He's a Shiba Inu!

[Gumshoe had photos at the ready, that's so charming... As charming as the photos themselves! Colress grins as he studies them.]

He seems like a very good companion, and he must be well-taken care of from how happy he looks in these photos! I am unfamiliar with his species, but that is to be expected. Dog Pokemon are a bit different in general.

[Gumshoe responds with a warm chuckle.]

Thanks, pal! I sure try my best. Heh, Missile sure is one of a kind. So what're Dog Pokemon like?

Oh, they are quite varied! They come in a variety of typings. Normal-type, Fire-type, Electric-type, Dark-type, Rock-type...there is even a Fighting-type dog!

[Since he's wearing his console, he'll pull up a few photos that he has on his PDA for Gumshoe to take a look at. He doesn't have one for every dog Pokemon, but he has a decent amount.]

So many types... I always knew that dogs could be whatever type of dogs that they set their hearts on!

[He leans forward to get a good look at the images, and he's practically starry-eyed, while his smile keeps on managing to get warmer. Sure, they may be unusual, but even so...]

Aw, they're so cute, pal!! You sure live in a world of wonders!

[Gumshoe is too pure for this world. But his enthusiasm is certainly infectious. Colress can't help but grin.]

You know, I would be happy to show it to you when the opportunity arises. Pictures are nice, but seeing Pokemon in person is the true experience.

I bet! [He says, as he spares a look towards Magneton.]

Well, whenever a time like that comes, I'll be all ears! ...Or all eyes in this case, pal!
